20 YEARS OF LEARNING SERIES

So it’s been an intense couple of days, but i didn’t want to leave you people hanging 😁, although I had wanted to speak on a different topic today, until I overheard someone around me say “They don’t want to marry someone that still had their mother alive, preferably an orphan seff” 😳🙄🙄 ah! E shock me o 🤷🏽‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️ Is this not sorcery or witchcraft bayi? 😱🙆🏾‍♀️ whattt! 🤔 Òjami làràjè o, Bcuz this is just wild.

I thought we left this mindset in the pandemic 🤷🏽‍♀️

I know! I know! Thanks to Nollywood blockbusters and “Patience ozokwu’ popular movie roles, the evil, vile and notorious mother in law narratives has spread fear in its wings into all the four corners of our heart and subconscious, we naturally project those roles into everyone that can fit into it, becuz it is easier to believe that Mothers-in-law are notorious for being controlling, judgmental, critical, and overbearing.And like any toxic person, a toxic mother-in-law is a soul-sucking parasite that feeds on your misery.

But the truth, this becomes our reality even when our potential mother-in-law could have been an angel from heaven, we just sum them up into this role and we act defensive accordingly.

I am not going to sit here and not admit that some MIL can be overbearing and demanding, but wisdom is required. Praying that they are dead doesn’t stop the bleeding, have you met some “Siblings-in-law”? 🤣😭 Some MIL no do reach dem

I don’t think this mindset is healthy, people don’t have to die for us to feel better with life, and whilst we are on this thought, let’s flip the coin a little, shall we?
So imagine when you have your kids and they are all grown up and of marriagable age, and your daughter in law is fervently praying for your death before she marries your son, how would this make you feel?

Instead of praying for them to die, pls pray for wisdom, seek knowledge in knowing how to delicately understand and manage the dynamics of that relationship and trust me, when you get a hang of this, a Mother-in-law in alignment with you is a greater asset and an ally, than your own biological mother.
