LET’S TALK ABOUT DEPRESSION
AIDS no dey show for face. The same is true for depression. Not everyone who is suffering from depression goes around looking like it.
Persons with this illness may appear sound and well put together in public while secretly battling the disease. It is often difficult to own up to having this illness as by its very nature depression comes with a feeling of shame and thrives in secrecy and silence.
This is the reason it comes as a shock when seemingly okay and well-adjusted people go off the deep end and terminate their lives. (swipe for context)
Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
And so this new week, as you go about your activities: remember to be KIND with your words and your actions.
And when you ask anyone “How are you?”, LISTEN to their response.
