CREATIVES CAN ALSO BE DEPRESSED
Raise your hand if you’re creative or know anyone who is? Because the next few statements I will be making will sound very familiar to you and quite honestly, to live in their shoes is not for the faint-hearted.
One min they are high in spirits, the next min, they don’t want to talk to anyone, one sec they want very loud music, the next sec, they want absolute silence “Deep sighs” This doesn’t make them crazy, the fluidity of the state of their mind often suggest where they are at per time,& as a result, Creativity creates mood disorder as a by-product.
Creative people remunerate very deeply to birth the unseen, they go really deep into their subconscious to bend logic, while normal people stick with the surface facts & “Know peace”, that’s where “our” creative people “own just dey start” (it can seem like over Sabi” atimes but that’s how they are wired) lol
Rumination is a major key to thinking like a creative genius.
Studies have shown that there is a clear relationship between being creative & having a diagnosis of a mood disorder like bipolar disorder (a condition marked by periods of low and high mood). i.e Van Gogh, Charles Darwin, Kanye west, etc Sounds familiar?
Your creativity can be a blessing and a curse at the same time.
While the possible solutions are many (the mind is a very complicated subject), countless psychologists and psychiatrists have agreed that major depression is amplified in those who tend to ruminate on their thoughts a little too much.
To be creative is to make sense of & connect the small details of everything we experience, the good & the bad.
Creatives naturally tend to think more, think about their very thoughts, your thoughts, the thoughts of their friends and that of their village people & communities put together. “Whahala”
Anyone who constantly thinks like this will not only inevitably expose themselves to the early stages of depression, they will be constantly in & out of depression.
I’ll recommend that you learn yourself, know how you create & your patterns, be more aware of ur ingenuity & manage it, gain mastery over it & still Express yourself creatively.
Don’t let Depression go and gbè è ni handicap o
