5 TIPS TO EVALUATE YOUR INNER CIRCLE
Have you ever spent an evening with a friend or a relative who turned every positive conversation and took it down the negative lane? I bet you left feeling exhausted mentally. On the flip side, when you spend time with friends who lift you up, you are inspired.
Surround yourself with people who lift you up. Part of self-love is having a higher standard for your inner circle.
Here are 5 tips on how to evaluate your inner circle.
1. Do they display integrity?
Are they friends who do what they say? Owning up to their words. Your inner circle must be people who would encourage and inspire you as a result of their own actions.
2. Do they bring insights to the table?
What addition do they bring to your life? Think about it. Do you counsel one another? If not, there is nothing beneficial about the relationship, then stay off!
3. Do they add value to your life?
Value is important. What have you learned from him or her since the inception of the relationship? How often do you talk about your losses or growths or wins?
4. Do they positively impact their other connections?
How are they to their other friends? Do they act in like manner to others as they do to you? Check these things, they count.
5. Do they demand attention?
Are they friends or people who seek attention or praise? The bossy kind? The kind of person that easily drives people out of their circle.
Know your circle. Make sure everybody in your boat is rowing and not drilling holes when you are not looking. Surround yourself with people who lift you up. Part of self-love is having a higher standard for your inner circle. The only people worthy to be in your life are the ones that help you through hard times and laugh with you after the hard times pass.
You cannot have a private relationship in a public arena. You must look to an inner circle of people who really know you. Don’t expect to have that kind of intimate relationship with people who only know you publicly. Do not seek to be understood by the world.
Remember this adage that says: Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are. Be careful of the people you allow in your corner.
