KENYA BY ASPEN
It has been an absolutely amazing week of bonding, laughter, networking and having a great time with my fellow @aspennewvoices family members. As a full pandemic fellow from beginning to the end, imagine the joy of putting body and legs to people you have only seen their faces online. Those that looked short are actually tall in real life. What of those that looked very professional, oh, they turned out to be the most hilarious humans. This is part of breaking the bias and stereotypes this fellowship has taught me. If you are still wondering why my storytelling game went to Harvard and back, all thanks to my @aspennewvoices family. The advocacy, storytelling, public speaking, leadership, media-savvy, among other training are remarkable.
I may be the first Nigerian Psychiatrist to have been a fellow in their 10years of existence, I’m certainly not going to be the last. I will be passing the ladder down for more to climb because advocacy is a core element of our profession.
To my changemaker fellows, thank you for sharing your lives with me.. Keep winning and soaring higher.
Dear #DrMayHive, meet your locally rooted and globally networked new senior fellow of the Aspen New Voices Fellowship. To the awesome humans of NVF, #Andrew, #Emily, #Katy, #Caroline, I’m deeply grateful, thankful and I feel blessed.
Continue in your pursuit for your gooseberries, grow yourself, practice self-care and do good till our next reunion.
