WHY DO PEOPLE LIE?
Amaka was granted a scholarship to a private secondary school by the government. She would always hear her schoolmates talk about their experiences when they travelled and because she felt left out, she lied to them that she had travelled as well and told them false stories of her experiences. Her schoolmates then found out she was lying and didn’t want to have anything to do with her
Reasons why people lie:
We lie because we sometimes want to be protected someone’s or our own feelings
We lie because we sometimes want to hide our own faults and weaknesses.
We lie because we sometimes want to present ourselves in a better or false way
We lie because we are sometimes scared to be hurt and face consequences.
We lie because at times there are social rules, we want to be polite and use humour
We lie because we sometimes want to gain power and manipulate others.
